If you’re looking for a toe-tapping, dance-inducing rock band, you’ll be hard pressed to find one that will make you move more than The Beggars.

Their music might seem like a throwback to previous rock n’ roll eras, and that’s because it is. The band formed in 2003 with a bunch of guys who loved rock n’ roll and appreciated it’s fun roots. While their lineup has changed over the years, that mission to make the audience dance to their feel-good rock beats has never changed.

The current lineup includes Steven Tuthill on vocals, Michael Latcha on guitar, Jim “The Gem” Faulkner on drums, and Pookie on bass. The four-piece band has toured the country giving rock n’ roll fans a nostalgia trip with their classic rock vibes. Those vibes are what Tuthill thinks make The Beggars shows stand out.

“We beg people to celebrate good time rock n’ roll with us. Life is tough and rock is a thrilling cultural form of escapism,” Tuthill said.

Adventure starts with a vehicle that’s up for anything. Trailblazer combines comfort you want, the versatility you need, and the technology to make every moment count.

Audiences have been experiencing that form of escapism for well over a decade and The Beggars brought that early, golden era sounding rock n’ roll to this year’s Pig & Whiskey. Their performance on Troy Street featured plenty of rhythmic hooks and infectious melodies that kept the crowd movin’ and groovin’.

“It’s always a blast playing for the beautiful people of Metro Detroit and Pig & Whiskey is one of our favorite local festivals every year,” Tuthill said.

They are not down performing at big parties yet, however. The Beggars will also be featured at this year’s Detroit Metro Times Best of Detroit 2018 Party where they will play at The Roostertail along with Rio & Rockabilly Revival and The Reefermen. The event highlights all of the best things Metro Detroit has to offer from food, to bars, entertainment, and of course music, and The Beggars are pretty excited to be invited.

“The Metro Times Best of Party has one heck of a lineup this year and all the super duper good looking and talented folks will be in attendance. It’s a great honor,” Tuthill said.

Tuthill also mentioned that fans should be excited about new music that will be coming down the pipeline. They are writing and finishing some new material that will be a part of “Stinks Like Rock N’ Roll Vol. 1” that should be available in 2019.
