There are two questions that every couple struggles answering: “What do you want to do tonight?” and “Where do you want to eat?”

There are, of course, so many answers to these questions, but one of the classic options is a dinner and a movie. Grabbing a bite to eat at a great restaurant before a movie has been the quintessential date night option for many reasons. It’s a great way to spend a couple hours, relax with your significant other, and enjoy a great dining and entertainment experience.

There are so many movie theaters and even more dining options that it can be difficult to pick just one combination, but we’re here to guide you through Metro Detroit’s great options. So whether you’re in Bloomfield, Southgate, or Auburn Hills, here some great date night options!

We’ll begin our journey at Bloomfield’s Maple Theater & Kitchen. This might seem like an obvious dinner and a movie option for couples, and that’s because it is. Usually showcasing buzzed about indies on one of its four screens, The Maple Theater also sports a full service kitchen in the building, making it a huge gas and time saver. Their kitchen serves many appetizers, sandwiches, and delicious desserts, making it good for either before or after your movie.

If you find yourself a little more west than Bloomfield, there are few places better than a romantic night out in Royal Oak. The Main Art Theatre is in the heart of downtown Royal Oak and is a quick trip to great restaurants such as Vinsetta Garage, Cafe Muse, and Ronin Sushi Bar. The traditional movie theater has three theaters showcasing smaller scale movies, while also hosting Midnight Movie madness at midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.

Add a little spice to your date night at Mexican Gardens in Southgate. Their dinner and a movie package includes a $25 Mexican Gardens gift card along with two tickets good at MJR Theaters for $42. That’s a great deal and the perfect way to experience dinner and a movie on a budget.

A night under the stars is always a great to spend a summer evening in Michigan, and while there aren’t a whole lot of drive-ins left, USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth is a great place to catch not only one, but two blockbusters! For just $10 a person, you get to experience a double feature with a full-service restaurant on site. It’s a great deal and a unique way of experiencing dinner and a movie!

Speaking of unique dinner and a movie dates, the prestigious Meadow Brook Hall will be hosting a dinner a movie series this upcoming October. Guests will be able to enjoy a three-course meal and a classic Hitchcock film in the gothic inspired ballroom.
