While there are many wonderful aspects to a new year, winter in Michigan can sometimes be a bit… brisk. Don’t let sleet or snow stand in your way of having a great month, because there are tons of fun events taking place throughout Metro Detroit in the coming weeks!

Cultural Center Walking Tour

Just because it’s January doesn’t mean you should spend the month indoors! Join the Detroit Experience Factory for a riveting tour of Midtown. Check out the Detroit Institute of Arts, Michigan Science Center and the Scarab Club, while learning about the vast culture Midtown has to offer.

Tours are offered on Sundays this month, including Jan. 3, 10 and 17. Sign up online for $10; tours begin at 11 a.m. at 14 East Café.

The North American International Auto Show

It’s that time of year again, car enthusiasts! The public show runs Saturday, Jan. 16 through Sunday, Jan. 24, giving you over a week to check out the hottest new rides, from electric cars to sports cars. Held at Cobo Hall, you can purchase tickets to the NAIAS ahead of time.

Keep your eyes and ears peeled for upcoming insights about Chevrolet’s presence at the show!

Polar Beer Club

Nothing warms you up from the inside out during the dead of winter quite like an ice-cold Michigan brew! On Saturday, Jan. 16, the Royal Oak Farmers Market hosts a winter celebration of craft beer featuring more than 100 different beers, 40 breweries, spirits and ciders.

Online tickets cost $45 for general admission, $65 for VIP and $15 for designated driver.

HopCat Beer Dinner

HopCat’s Ann Arbor location will present a four-course meal alongside beer pairings from Oregon-based brewery Deschutes Brewing Company on Monday, Jan. 25.

Mouthwatering courses include Arugula Salad with Orange Vinaigrette and Seasoned Crispy Pork Belly, paired with stouts, porters and IPAs. The meal costs $30 per person, and tickets can be purchased online.

It’s a new year, Metro Detroiters, and that means it’s time for a fresh start. Why not start things off with a robust social calendar?
