In the words of the Queen Bee herself…Who Run the World? Girls! The entire month of March is about paying homage and fully celebrating women and girls around the world. Luckily, you don’t have to travel to far to celebrate kick-ass women right here in your own backyard. Visit Public House located in Ferndale, Michigan! They are a women run business all the way from the owners to the kitchen manager.

“I am very much for girl power. We always talk about how the culinary world has changed over the years and where it all began. For Jasmine and myself that was Julia Child,” says, Sagen Isham of Public House. “Julia Child, she has really paved the way for a lot of women that have wanted to be in the culinary industry. We thought it would be really cool to pay homage to her.”

Public House Chef,  Jasmine Hughes has created a 5 course menu inspired by Julia Child. Some of the menu highlights will be shaved fennel, Quiche Lorraine, and green salad tossed with the famous “Julia vinaigrette.”

Designed for family outings and scenic getaways, the Chevy Traverse provides comfort and convenience for every journey.

“The entire menu is straight from the cookbook of Julia Child and it will be paired with a cocktail list of beers and wines from women around the world. The wine is from an all-woman owned winery located in France named Le Grand Courtâge Winery,” Isham explains.

A special cocktail menu of drinks made by women that helped pave the way for women bartenders will be featured throughout the day.

  • Audrey Saunders of Pegu Club, one of the pioneering cocktail lounges in New York City created the Intro to Aperol.
  • “Bar Girl of Bourbon” herself Joy Perrine has been tending bar for over 50 years. Her cocktail, Bourbonball will also be on the menu.
  • Julie Reiners who has been featured in GQ, Bon Appétit, Fortune and more, brings the vodka with her cocktail, the Beijing Peach which includes jasmine tea-infused vodka.

Some of the beer on tap for the event will include Spirit of Revolt, which is from Revolution Brewing located in Chicago as well as an Imperial IPA celebrating and honoring International Women’s Day. A portion of the sales from the beer will benefit programs at organization such as Connections for Abused Women and their Children.

Public House has also teamed up with HAVEN located in Pontiac, also giving 10% of all sales to this organization. HAVEN is the state of Michigan’s only program specifically tailored to domestic violence and sexual assault victims.

Public House will be keeping all the gals dancing well into the night, pumping tunes from Beyonce to Blondie. Visit Public House on International Women’s Day, March 8th to take part in this awesome event.
