The weather might be getting a little chillier outside but that does not mean you should hide your running shoes in the closet just yet. There are still some great outdoor races in Michigan, so lace up the sneakers, put on a long sleeve shirt, and check out these six fall runs.

CHSCF 5th Annual Glow Run, September 17

Those looking for a race but do not want to get up incredibly early should check out the Glow Run at Stony Creek Metropark on Saturday, September 17. The race is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. and runners will receive a t-shirt along with a post race snack. Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on September 15, so make sure you register here before then.

Brooksie Way, September 25

The 9th annual Brooksie Way takes runners through the hill-filled Oakland University campus and surrounding area. The event features a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and a Fun Run for all ages. Proceeds from the race support local programs that encourage a healthy lifestyle through the Brooksie Way Minigrants, which has donated over $125,000 to those programs in the past nine years.

Thru the Leaves Trail Run, October 1 & 2

Those looking for a different type of race might be able to find it with the Thru the Leaves Trail Run in Rochester Hills. The 10K and Half-Marathon will take place on Saturday, October 1 and will take runners through the Bloomer Park nature trail, meaning the course is not smoothly paved like other races. The event will also feature a 50K/50K relay on Sunday, October 2, and all finishers of each race will receive a pullover hoodie and a medal.

More information on the race can be found here.

Huddle Up, October 23

Just in time for the state’s biggest college football game, the Huddle Up 5K and 10K will feature runners picking a side in the Michigan/Michigan State rivalry. Starting at River Bends Park in Shelby Township, runners will receive a custom pint glass and a race shirt in either Wolverine or Spartan colors.

Wicked Halloween Run, October 30

If you’re looking to break in your costume before going Trick-or-Treating on Halloween, you might want to participate in the Wicked Halloween Run in Plymouth on October 30. The festive race will feature a 10K, 5K run/walk, and the Monster Mile. All runners will receive a long-sleeve “Tech Shirt” and a hat, except for Monster Mile participants.
