The organization is leading a Save the Bats campaign, which is an educational nonprofit based in Michigan. The goal is to prevent further loss of population, spread new populations, and teach the community about the friendly creatures. The annual celebration of bats, Michigan’s Great Lakes Bat Festival takes over the Michigan Science Center in downtown Detroit on Saturday, September 23. The family-friendly event will feature presentations, speakers, live animals, hands-on activities, games, and interactive exhibits. It’s a great way for the whole family to learn about bats while having a more intimate experience than you would have at a zoo. If you are unable to make it to Michigan’s Great Lake Bat Festival, you can still get batty at the Bat Zone in Pontiac. The nocturnal animal sanctuary is home to more than 250 animals, including some of the rarest bats.
