Everyone might have their preconceived notion of what bats are. Many times, people think that they are scary, hideous beasts that only come out at night. While movies and television shows would love for you to believe that, it isn’t really the case. Most do hang upside down and are blind, but there is a lot more to these fascinating creatures.

The Organization for Bat Conservation holds numerous bat festivals in the Great Lakes region throughout the year, and they will be hosting a festival in Detroit on Saturday, September 23. So what is the Organization for Bat Conservation? What can you do at Michigan’s Great Lake Bat Festival? Here’s all the information you need to enjoy this upcoming festival.

The Organization of Bat Conservation is a national organization whose goal is to help protect bats and their ecosystem along with debunking myths and misinformation on the species. They team up with local health departments and government agencies to aid in public issues regarding bats. The organization is leading a Save the Bats campaign, which is an educational nonprofit based in Michigan. The goal is to prevent further loss of population, spread new populations, and teach the community about the friendly creatures.
