In what has become a bi-annual tradition, Ann Arbor and Birmingham Restaurant Weeks return to Metro Detroit to showcase some of the area’s best food. Both will feature favorite local restaurants with great deals and special menus.

The Ann Arbor Restaurant Week will start this Sunday, January 13 and run through Friday, January 18. The event will feature over 50 of Ann Arbor’s favorite restaurants ranging in cuisines and budgets. From local favorites like Cafe Zola and Jolly Pumpkin, to fine dining at The Chop House, and even newly opened restaurants like Jim Brady’s, there are plenty of opportunities to have your favorite meal or try something new.

Director of the Ann Arbor Main Street Area Association and event organizer Sandra Andrade said that the diversity of the city is what allows them to organize such a successful restaurant week every year.

“Ann Arbor is very diverse and it pulls together all of these amazing cultures. To me it is a melting pot of different tastes and cuisines and it continues to blossom every year,” Andrade said.

Not only are there plenty of unique restaurants on display, but there are opportunities to help local causes throughout the week. Ann Arbor Restaurant Week is partnering with Michigan State University, Argus Farm Stop, and Taste the Local Difference to help feature locally sourced food in many of the restaurants. Taking place a few weeks after the Ann Arbor Restaurant Week, Birmingham will host its own restaurant week starting on Monday, January 28 and running through Friday, February 8. Over the course of two weeks, 21 restaurants will be on display with their best dishes and deals such as a three-course lunch for $15 and a three-course dinner for $30 per person.

Restaurants such as Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse offer award-winning wine along with fine aged prime beef and market-fresh seafood, while restaurants like Toast showcase unique brunch options along with a hip bar. Throughout both weeks, guests will be able to experience all of the diverse and fine dining experiences Birmingham has to offer
