Metro Detroit Art Fairs That the Whole Family Can Enjoy

Whether it is finding that unexpected treasure or seeing all of the local talent on display, going to an art fair is the perfect way to spend a weekend afternoon. Metro Detroit has plenty of local art fairs, even as the calendar transitions to autumn. So if you’re looking for a beautiful painting, unique sculptures, or anything in between, be sure to check out these upcoming art fairs in the D.

Art & Apples Festival (9/7-9/9)

For over 50 years the Art & Apples Festival has been a staple in not only the Rochester community, but the state of Michigan. Hosted by the Paint Creek Center for the Arts, the fair features over 290 wide-ranging artists from around the country. From fine artwork, to local musicians on the main stage, and a kids art zone, there really is something for everyone.

Detroit Made Market (9/15 & 10/20)

The Detroit Made Market will have two more art shows this fall, with the first taking place on Saturday, September 15. The monthly pop-up market features Detroit makers, artisans, small businesses, and the Norwest Gallery of Art’s exhibit. The pop-up has been a success since debuting in March, and you’ll have two more chances to check it out before it’s gone!

Birmingham Street Art Fair (9/15-9/16)

The 44th annual Birmingham Street Art Fair will take over the streets surrounding Shain Park with over 140 juried artists on display. Over 80,000 fairgoers are expected at this year’s event which will feature jewelry, paintings, metals, and unique mixed media booths. You can also participate in Common Ground’s silent auction tent filled with beautiful artwork where all profits will benefit the nonprofit organization helping families in crisis.

Funky Ferndale Art Fair (9/21-9/23)

Downtown Ferndale will transform into one of the funkiest art fairs around in the form of Funky Ferndale Art Fair. The fair will feature 120 juried artists ranging from paintings, sculptures, and unique fashion art.

DIY Street Fair (9/21-9/23)

Speaking of Ferndale art shows, the DIY Street Fair will be taking place in downtown Ferndale as well. The fair will feature free music starting on Friday night, with concerts all day Saturday and Sunday. Plenty of local artists will be on display as well, along with some of the best food in the area.

Ann Arbor Annual Art & Craft Show (10/20)

The 10th annual Ann Arbor Arts & Crafts Show – Crafting with Grace will take place at the New Grace Apostolic Temple on Saturday, October 20. The show will feature over 60 artists and crafters, a kids craft corner, face-painting, baked goods, and door prizes. Admission is just $2 and proceeds benefit the Ann Arbor community.
