Detroit is constantly making moves on the restaurant scene, and we like to keep you in the loop here on “In the D.” With that said, there are quite a few recently-opened, or upcoming, eateries to be aware of. Follow along with me and perhaps you will find a new place to try. Ready, set, let’s go!

Griff’s Pub

This Allen Park gastropub features dishes by chef Steve Kempner, a well-known chef on Detroit’s pop-up scene. The menu offers entrees such as Salmon Etienne, Pork Tenderloin and Bistro Filet. Additional options include burgers, sandwiches, salads and appetizers. The pub also offers brunch. There are many cocktails, and various wines to choose from as well.

Sidecar Slider Bar

Birmingham’s new restaurant offers the community something different with diverse sliders, such as oysters, portabella mushrooms, poutine and more. The menu, of course, includes gourmet sliders, but it also offers gourmet hot dogs, small plates, salads and barrel-aged cocktails, as well as craft beer. Sidecar also has a nice patio to enjoy during the warmer months!

Yuzu Sushi Co.

According to its website, Yuzu Sushi Co. is Michigan’s first sushi burrito and poke – basically a raw fish salad – bar.  The Royal Oak restaurant draws its “sushi burrito” concept from the West Coast. The menu features 12 different sushi rolls and bowls, as well as six kinds of poke. Sides such as Asian slaw and miso soup are also available.

The Silverado is the truck that works as hard as you do.

The Pretzel Bell

The Pretzel Bell in Ann Arbor opened in April, but it is not technically new, it’s just making a comeback! It was originally opened in 1934 and was a favorite in the Ann Arbor community for nearly 50 years. After closing more than 30 years ago, it has returned! The menu provides a plethora of options, including Braised Short Ribs, Maize Out Mac, “Pigtail” Pasta, several sandwiches, salads and more.

Other restaurants soon to make a southeast Michigan debut include the Chubby Duck (Detroit), Project Pie (Royal Oak), World of Beer (Canton) and Detroit Shipyard (Cass Corridor).

With hundreds of great restaurants already in the area, you’re going to have a hard time picking where to eat dinner at – but new dining options are always OK with me! Let us know what new restaurant you’re most excited about on Facebook or Twitter.
