As Detroiters and Michiganders, it’s easy to lose sight of new happenings throughout the winter months. It’s pretty appealing to stay snuggled up under a blanket at home instead of braving the harsh winter weather to find out what’s new around town. Now that spring is just around the corner (March 20!), you’ll have no excuse not to try any one of these fabulous restaurants that opened during your winter slumber.

Fusing Irish, Italian and German cuisine into one menu has proved to be a winning combination at Cork and Gabel in Corktown. That fusion is the result of executive chef Matthew McGrail’s Irish and Italian heritage and owner Joe Mifsud’s veneration of German cuisine. Whenever possible, Cork and Gabel sources its ingredients from local suppliers and growers, such as The Wojcik Farm in Tecumseh and Corridor Sausage Company in Detroit.
