Today is referred to as many things: Fat Tuesday, the day before Lent begins, Mardi Gras down in New Orleans or, to put it in more simple terms, Paczki Day! For those of you that don’t know, paczki are Polish pastries often containing sweet filling, topped with powdered sugar or icing. Listed below are a few places where you’ll find this delicious treat.

Small’s

Hamtramck is rich in Polish culture, and Small’s is known as “Best Bar on Paczki Day.” The bar hosts its Paczki Day 2016 event starting at 10 a.m. today. Small’s is the home of the “Paczki Bomb,” which is essentially a shot and doughnut all in one! Hurry, these sell out fast! Small’s also has live music, Polish food, drink specials and more. There is no cover all day!

Zingerman’s Bakehouse

Zingerman’s Bakehouse has been an Ann Arbor staple since 1992. Today only, the bakery offers five separate filling flavors for paczki. Flavors include raspberry jam, lemon cream, sweet ricotta, chocolate pudding and rose hip jam. Also in celebration of Mardi Gras, Zingerman’s Bakehouse serves King Cake today, a traditional centerpiece for the occasion.

Sister Pie

Sister Pie is known for its creative and tasty pies, but today is all about the paczki! The Detroit bakery serves three kinds of paczki this Fat Tuesday; two of which are sweet and one that is savory. The dark chocolate tahini rye and poppy lemon rose make up the selection of sweets, while the “pieraczki” is of the savory variety. The “pieraczki” consists of potatoes, caramelized onions and aged cheddar cheese!

From transporting food and goods to having enough room for pets and family, owning the right SUV is essential for pet owners. See the available features that make the Chevy Tahoe a pet lover's dream.

Paris Bakery

This Polish bakery is known for its hand-crafted creations, and is celebrating Paczki Day. The Livonia-based bakery has several fillings available today, such as custard, blueberry, lemon, apple and more. Joe Czapski provides live music all day long! You can order single paczek ($2 each), a half dozen ($11) or a dozen ($19).

Other places to check out include New Martha Washington Bakery and New Palace Bakery in Hamtramck.

Whether this is your last indulgence before Lent, or you just enjoy these pastries, make sure to grab a paczki (or 12) today. You know you want to.
