When was the last time you took time for yourself; the last time you did something to make yourself feel good? Maybe you bought that new outfit you’ve been eyeing at the store or maybe you took a sick day from when you weren’t actually sick.
Don’t feel bad. Self-care is important.
Lucky for all of us, there’s a relatively new, convenient way to treat yourself in metro Detroit: blowout bars. While popular in places like New York City and Los Angeles, blowout bars are starting to pop up in Detroit proper. A blowout bar is your one-stop-shop for when you just need a good hair wash and blow dry that will leave you feeling refreshed and looking great. If you’re looking for this convenient alternative to full-on salon visits, check out these four blowout bars in metro Detroit.
A finalist in Hatch Detroit’s incubation program: Detroit Blows is owned by childhood friends Nia Batts and Katy Cockrel. After feeling the frustration of having to go to the suburbs of Detroit to get their hair washed and blown out before an important meeting, Batts and Cockrel decided to open their own blowout bar downtown. Catering to clients that are on-the-go, Detroit Blows plans to add express manicures, pedicures, eyebrow waxing and makeup application, too.
