A finalist in Hatch Detroit’s incubation program: Detroit Blows is owned by childhood friends Nia Batts and Katy Cockrel. After feeling the frustration of having to go to the suburbs of Detroit to get their hair washed and blown out before an important meeting, Batts and Cockrel decided to open their own blowout bar downtown. Catering to clients that are on-the-go, Detroit Blows plans to add express manicures, pedicures, eyebrow waxing and makeup application, too.

Arid Blow Dry & Beauty Bar
Located in Royal Oak, Arid Blow Dry & Beauty Bar has been offering blowouts, waxing and makeup application since it opened in 2013. Most blowout options cost $35 with additional “a la carte” options, like a pin-up or braid. Plus, if you come in on Tuesday, you can get a blowout and eyebrow waxing for $20.
