Anyone who has had to do it will tell you that juggling the responsibilities of a parent in addition to work can seem near-impossible at times. Nevermind making time for you and your partner to go out at night. However hard it might feel to make that work, getting away from those responsibilities, even for one night, is immensely helpful in maintaining a healthy relationship with your significant other, not to mention your own mental health.

Parents want to have fun, too, you know? Here are a few easy, yet fun, date night ideas for parents in Metro Detroit.

Get Down & Get Funky

Boogie Fever

How do you make a truck your own? We're redefining what it means to drive a pickup. With luxurious comfort, a world-class entertainment system, and a 6-position Multi-Flex Tailgate, Silverado is the change you've been waiting for.

Located in Ferndale, Boogie Fever is the perfect place to go with your partner if you just want to dance the night away. They have special themed nights, like the upcoming “90s Hip Hop Party,” and a bar filled with cocktails, wine and draft beer.

The Magic Bag

The Magic Bag is an intimate venue to catch a show and when the night isn’t reserved for a particular artist’s show, they host themed nights of live music. Coming up they have an 80s-themed New Year’s Eve party and the regularly appearing “Class of ‘98” show. Relive your glory days through music.

Game On!

Ready Player One

Located in Detroit on East Fort St., Ready Player One features a wide variety of classic arcade games and pinball machines. There’s also board games and nights for organized Dungeons & Dragons. Take it back to the good old days of Donkey Kong and Galaga. That’s not to mention the cleverly named food and drinks on the menu.

Pop + Offworld

With a focus on pizza, drinks and games, Pop + Offworld is another great arcade in Detroit. Play classic co-op games together, like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Gauntlet and The Simpsons or compete against each other for the highest score in games, such as Galaga, Centipede and Dig Dug.

Pinching Pennies?

Ice Skating at Campus Martius

Now open through March 3, the Campus Martius ice rink is open to all (various dates/times apply). For just $10 each plus $5 skate rental, adults can step out onto the rink for a romantic night on the ice.

Free Tour at the DIA

Can’t Find a Babysitter?

Troy Gymnastics’ “Parent’s Night Out”

If you’re unable to find a babysitter in time for your date night, consider Troy Gymnastics. They have programs where children and teens can be dropped off to play and exercise at the gym while their parents have some time to themselves.
