Juice cleanses are all the rage, whether you’re looking to shed a few pounds or just detoxify your body. However, I know for a fact that never in a million years would I be able to exist on juice alone for any number of days. Or hours, for that matter.

While I may not be bold enough to embark on a juice fast, I’m sure some of you are. Even if, like me, you’re not interested in a cleanse, per say, drinking raw juice is advantageous to your health, and there are plenty of restaurants in the Metro Detroit area that have raw juice bars.

Seva, with locations in Detroit and Ann Arbor, is a vegetarian restaurant with a mix and match juice bar. First, choose your base flavor (orange, grapefruit, cantaloupe, watermelon, apple, celery, cucumber or carrot), then a flavor addition (beet, ginger, kale, lemon, lime, parsley or spinach) and you’ll be at your healthiest in no time.

If you’re not feeling creative, there are staff favorite juice combos on the menu to choose from, including Mellow Melon (cantaloupe, watermelon and apple), Kermit’s Lagoon (cucumber, celery, spinach, kale, parsley and apple), and Solar Blast (orange, grapefruit, lime and ginger).

With best-in-class cargo space, top of the line safety features, and cutting edge technology, the Chevy Suburban is perfect for any family. See the Suburban's available features that can keep up with your family's lifestyle.

Since ginger provides numerous health benefits on its own, you can order a shot of it for $3.

The Farm Grill, 30990 Beck Rd., Novi, is a great place for gourmet health food, in addition to healthy beverages. The raw juice bar includes carrot, apple, orange and grapefruit juices, as well as combinations like carrot-orange-beet and carrot-spinach-cucumber.

Exotic juices like mango, guava and papaya are also available. Whichever one you choose, you can sip with a clear conscience since they’re packed with good for you ingredients.

Olive Leaves, 22542 Telegraph Rd., Southfield, prepares typical Mediterranean fare like chicken Shawarma and fattoosh salad, which go perfectly with one of the restaurant’s fresh-squeezed, made to order raw juice options.

You have your choice of orange, apple, carrot-apple or carrot juice, as well as a few specialty ones including Potassium Broth (carrot, celery, spinach and parsley), Olive Leaves Power Mix (carrot, spinach, celery and beet), and Cobra (carrot, orange, beet and apple).

Organico Juice Bar & Café, 23440 Woodward Ave., Ferndale, serves freshly squeezed juices that are 100 percent free of additives and preservatives. Creamy juices include green juices like Lean Green (kale, Swiss chard, cucumber, celery, lemon, green apple, lemon and ginger) and Spiced Green Protein (broccoli, apple, kale, garlic and ginger).

Organico has a solution for whatever ails you—their Elixir Juices like Cold Ease (carrot, orange, ginger and garlic) and Dynamic Digestion (pear, pineapple, carrot and ginger) are designed to cure just about anything.

If you’re really serious about a juice cleanse, they offer a 1-day, 3-day and 5-day cleanse, as well as a 21-day detox. Each program includes a variety of juices that will rid your body of any and all toxins.

DROUGHT, 470 Forest Ave., Plymouth, is an organic, cold-pressed raw juice company that creates its unpasteurized fruit and veggie juice on a daily basis. The unique process in which it’s made allows for the juice to maintain its freshness for 72 hours.

You can order individual juices like pear-cayenne, apple-lemon-ginger, and carrot-kale, or tackle “The Wash,” DROUGHT’s one-day cleanse consisting of 12 different juices. If you follow the cleanse properly, you’ll be sans food for the day, and many people choose to endure it for three to five days as opposed to just one.

Pure BDY, 207 E. 9 Mile Rd., Ferndale, offers a variety of health and wellness services, including nutrition and juice programs. One-day, three-day and six-day cleanses are available, in addition to a weeklong cleanse with a raw food diet.

Custom cleanses are available for those with allergies or dietary restrictions and vary by season, but you might find yourself chugging a Lean Green (spinach, kale, apple, celery and parsley) or Protein Powerhouse (almond milk, almond butter, banana and avocado) juice if you choose to participate.

Whether you make the courageous decision to tackle a full-on juice cleanse or you simply want to incorporate some good for you beverages into your diet, raw juice is the way to go.
