With all the new technology and gadgets in your day to day, stepping back and enjoying the simple things is easily forgotten. That’s where roller skating comes in and can act as an enjoyable retro activity. Skating has so many benefits from being easy on the joints, to being a good workout, and just makes you overall happy. You can’t help but smile when “shooting the duck” across the wood floor. Today, just like back in the day, there are still roller rinks all around town. Take the time to remember skating to old jams under the disco balls or even ballroom stepping all while on wheels. So lace up your favorite skates and get rolling at these throwback roller skating rinks in Metro Detroit.

Skatin’ Station (Canton)

Here at this rink, Rollers and Strollers is a highly anticipated monthly event. If you are a mom, you can still lace your skates up and even bring the baby out on the wood grain with you. In the past, there have been themed events such as Easter Bunny, Halloween and even Star Wars. One cool event coming up is Boys Skate Free on May 18th.

Bonaventure Family Skating Center (Farmington Hills)

Skaters can glide on the hard maple skating rink to their favorite tunes played by the house  DJ, all while watching the latest music videos on a jumbo screen. The theme here is family fun and if skating isn’t your forte there is plenty to do from Zap Zone to arcade games.
