You can’t help but smile when “shooting the duck” across the wood floor. Today, just like back in the day, there are still roller rinks all around town. Take the time to remember skating to old jams under the disco balls or even ballroom stepping all while on wheels. So lace up your favorite skates and get rolling at these throwback roller skating rinks in Metro Detroit.

Skatin’ Station (Canton)

Here at this rink, Rollers and Strollers is a highly anticipated monthly event. If you are a mom, you can still lace your skates up and even bring the baby out on the wood grain with you. In the past, there have been themed events such as Easter Bunny, Halloween and even Star Wars. One cool event coming up is Boys Skate Free on May 18th.

Bonaventure Family Skating Center (Farmington Hills)

With over 30,000 square feet to accommodate 900 people, no doubt the family will have fun here. Skaters can glide on the hard maple skating rink to their favorite tunes played by the house  DJ, all while watching the latest music videos on a jumbo screen. The theme here is family fun and if skating isn’t your forte there is plenty to do from Zap Zone to arcade games.

Rollercade Roller Rink (Detroit)

Relive your teen years every  Tuesday during adult skate! Some of the old school roller rink tunes are played from the 80’s and 90’s. Want to switch up the groove a little bit? Only in Detroit can you ballroom and line dance while on wheels. So grab your favorite 90’s gear and get ready to show off at the 90’s glow parties.

The New Rink (Shelby Township)

Friday Night Live skating is every Friday from 7-11pm where the latest jams are played while skating. On Sunday’s head out to the rink for “Spun Out Sunday” adult skate as well as a matinee skate that features lessons for all ages on the wood grain.

For over 30 years this roller rink has been a neighborhood staple. It’s the perfect place to bring your family for skating for all ages. With summer around the corner, ‘Summer Super Skate’ is back all summer long. So ‘let the good times roll’ at Detroit Roller Wheels.
