Fall is just about the most magical time of year, when trips to the cider mill are frequent and your coziest sweaters make their rotation back into your wardrobe.

October in Metro Detroit is full of fun activities for families and friends alike, so take your pick of the following:

Zoo Boo is held at the Detroit Zoo each weekend in October, starting on Friday, Oct. 9 through Sunday, Oct. 25. The family-friendly celebration includes a trick-or-treating trail and live entertainment, complete with magicians and extreme pumpkin carving demonstrations.

Held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. each Friday through Sunday, tickets cost $8 for those ages 2 and up.

When you have the tools to do it yourself, nothing can stop you from turning your vision into reality. Trailblazer offers advanced storage options for a small SUV that is versatile, powerful, and ready to get the job done

The Downtown Royal Oak Beer Stroll will take place on Saturday, Oct. 10 at some of the area’s best venues. From noon to 5 p.m., sample food and drink from top breweries and restaurants of Royal Oak.

Participating venues include Bastone Brewery, Hamlin Corner, Mesa, Mr. B’s Pub and Royal Oak Brewery. Find the full list here. Tickets to the Beer Stroll cost $40 and can be purchased online.

The Root Restaurant & Bar, located in White Lake, is hosting The Great Pumpkin Feast on Thursday, Oct. 15. The meal, expertly prepared by chef James Rigato (also of Hazel Park’s new Mabel Gray), features a five-course spread with dishes like Pumpkin and Kale Lasagna, Duck Confit and “Pumpkin Spice Latte” Crème Brûlée.

The meal costs $65 per person, and for $20 you will receive a Founders Brewing Co. pairing with your meal. The first course will be served promptly at 7 p.m. and reservations are required.

Andiamo of Dearborn is getting in the Halloween spirit on Friday, Oct. 16 with a Haunted Vines Wine Tasting event! Featuring “grave robbing reds” and “wicked whites,” the tasting runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and costumes are strongly encouraged. The best of the best will take home prizes!
