Sippin’ in the Sun: Enjoy an Outdoor Drink in the D

I don’t know about you, but when the sun is shining in Metro Detroit, I am just in a better mood. I feel like the morale of the whole area is up! We only have a finite number of days of warmth and sunshine. Fall is creeping up fast, which means Old Man Winter isn’t too far behind (let’s not forget the misery he put us through this past winter). What I am trying to say is that we need to take advantage of the warm, sunny days. What better way to do that than grabbing a few drinks and perhaps some food outdoors at a local establishment? If you are…

Looking for a beautiful view:

The Rattlesnake Club, located 300 River Place Dr., overlooks the beautiful Detroit River and the international skyline. The Rattlesnake Club has been serving locally grown and seasonally sourced food and drink in Detroit since 1988. It offers an impressive collection of wines. Michigan-made craft beers and cocktails are also plentiful here. If you want to grab a drink, enjoy fine-dining and fix your eyes on a beautiful scene, this is the place for you.

Looking for a gastropub:

Silverado 22 DIY 1920x720

The Silverado is the official sponsor of your next home improvement project.

Republica resides at 1999 Coolidge Hwy. in Berkley. By definition, gastropubs specialize in high quality food, so you should check out the menu. This is a newer place, but according to Detroit.eater.com, it already has a loyal following. Republica “puts an emphasis” on Michigan craft beers and fresh cocktail culture. Sounds like a place I need to try.

Looking for some friendly competition:

On the Dunes, 2055 Haggerty Rd., Commerce, offers a gorgeous outdoor patio and a plethora of activities. With 10 regulation-sized beach volleyball courts (with the sand coming from sand dunes in Michigan), it is a perfect place to grab a beer (or a beer tower). There are also pool tables and a stage for live entertainment. You could also always go inside to check out the golf simulators! I am very partial to this place.

Looking for a seasonally changing menu:

Palate sits at 449 N. Main St. in Milford. It currently offers 32 craft beers and 40 different wines. As noted above, the menu changes seasonally, so you will have a variety of options throughout the year. The patio looks to offer comfort with some couches and cool furniture. Throw in the fact that Palate only uses fresh ingredients and the patio view includes water scenes, and this is a must-try. I haven’t been here yet, but I do have an upcoming fantasy football league draft here!

Looking for Italian cuisine:

Tre Monti, 1695 E. Big Beaver Rd., in Troy offers a wrap around patio with great Italian food. In addition, it often has DJs, live music or other entertainment. An extensive cocktail list, an impressive wine list and gorgeous surroundings provide enough reason to make this a go-to outdoor drinking venue. Plus, I hear there is bocce ball here! Game on.

Listed above are just a few places you may want to get your drink on in an outdoor setting. Stay thirsty, my friends (and as always: drink responsibly).
