If you partake in “Meatless Mondays”, that’s just all the more reason to treat yourself to a delicious, juicy steak once the weekend rolls around.

Everyone is familiar with the area’s chain steakhouses, but why not support a local favorite instead? Metro Detroit has some upscale steakhouses that are sure to satisfy any red meat lover’s palate.

Novi Chophouse, 27000 Karevich Dr., Novi, specializes in Prime Aged Steaks, broiled at 1700 degrees in order to sear in flavor. Cuts, including Filet Mignon, New York Strip and Porterhouse, are served with your choice of Béarnaise, Horseradish or Detroit Zip Sauce. If you’re feeling decadent, you can order one of several “steak toppers,” including Bleu Cheese Glaçage, Portabellas with Shallot Madeira or Caramelized Onions.

The Clawson Steakhouse, 56 S. Rochester Rd., Clawson, serves a signature 30 oz. Porterhouse, which is coined “a steak eater’s dream.” The Prime Rib, considered the house specialty, is slow roasted, choice aged beef served with Aus Jus. Paired with fresh steamed asparagus with Hollandaise, it makes the perfect, well-rounded meal.

This is how you Traverse Michigan. With cutting edge technology, tons of cargo space, and advanced safety features, Chevy Traverse is your key to unlocking the mitten state.

Prime29, 6545 Orchard Lake Rd., West Bloomfield, ages each cut for, you guessed it, 29 days. All steaks, including Filet Mignon, Tomahawk Bone-In Ribeye and New York Strip, are served with house Zip Sauce and can be prepared Gluten Free. You can top your steak with additional sauces like Red Wine Demi and Vanilla Buerre Blanc, or add Seared Sea Scallops, a 10 oz. Lobster Tail or a Crab Cake to the side.

Roast, 1128 Washington Blvd., Detroit, features eight different steaks and chops on its menu, all of which are hand chosen and naturally raised. Your choices include a Filet Mignon prepared with sea salt and olive oil or Crab Béarnaise. Side items like Rosemary Fries, Whipped Potatoes, Broccolini and Fried Brussels Sprouts are served ala carte.

The Rochester Chop House, 306 S. Main St., Rochester, features several unique Signature Steak Preparations including Excalibur Style (with Hotel Black Butter), Rochester Zip Sauce, Encrusted (with Maytag Bleu Cheese, Breadcrumbs and Au Jus) and Alaskan Béarnaise (with King Crab and classic Béarnaise). If you don’t want anything fancy, your steak will be grilled and served with Natural Au Jus.

All of the aforementioned steakhouses, chophouses and restaurants offer the best beef Metro Detroit has to offer. If you’re treating yourself, make sure to go all in!
