While the Michigan weather has been incredibly unpredictable this winter, one thing does remain predictable: ice cream shops are going to start re-opening in the coming weeks. In fact, a couple of favorites already have opened their doors to hungry customers. It’s a sign that spring and summer are right around the corner, which is a great thing to hear after our wild winter. Here’s five local favorites that either recently opened back up or are going to in the coming weeks!

Stroh’s Ice Cream Parlor

Stroh’s Ice Cream Parlor opened its doors last week and residents of Bloomfield Hills are happy it’s back. The ice cream parlor has been a staple in the community for over 50 years and serves a wide range of classic ice cream and frozen yogurt flavors. The old school feel goes perfectly with the classic flavors, making it a must visit in the coming spring and summer months.

The Custard Hut

Opening their doors this past Sunday, Dearborn Heights’ Custard Hut is here for another season of delicious frozen desserts. Their custard alone is worth a trip to the shop, but it’s their famous hot waffle sandwich that really makes them a local favorite. Be sure to follow them on Facebook for flash sales, flavors of the week, and more updates on their products.

Blank Slate Creamery (3/7)

Downtown Ann Arbor’s Blank Slate Creamery is back for another season of creamy, homemade, all-natural ice cream. Blank Slate offers a wide variety of fan favorite ice cream flavors including Lavender Lemon Honey, Balsamic Strawberry, and Cookies & Cream. The creamery will open its doors on Saturday, March 7 and the first 200 customers in line will receive a free refillable pint container.

The Silverado is the truck that works as hard as you do.

Mootown (3/16)

Mootown will be welcoming the 2018 season with a grand opening event taking place on Friday, March 16. The grand opening will feature all of the store’s updates, new products, and the celebration of the new addition of the French Cow crepes shop. The French dessert shop will be joining the ice cream shop to offer customers even more options for tasty treats!

Erma’s Frozen Custard (4/1)

Erma’s Frozen Custard started as a roadside ice cream stand in downtown Utica in 1942, and has since evolved into one of the most recognizable frozen custard spots in southeast Michigan. With three locations (Utica, Warren, and St. Claire Shores), Erma’s is satisfying more customers than ever with their original frozen custard. They also serve a variety of sundaes, parfaits, shakes, slushes, and malts.
