Some people pride themselves on their athleticism, some on their wit, some on their knowledge. And then there are some that pride themselves on their ability to eat a lot of food in a short amount of time. That’s right. I’m talking about food challenges. It seems that no matter what you like to eat, there’s a food challenge for you. A tasty tooth for pizza? There’s a challenge for you. Love eating a good burrito? There’s a challenge for you. Below you’ll find five different food challenges at five different restaurants in metro Detroit.

Tipsy McStagger’s Tipsy Tower Burger Challenge

For all you burger-lovers out there, Tipsy McStagger’s in Warren has one for the books. It’s a five-pound burger and a pound of fries for $20. Eat the whole thing in 20 minutes and you’ll get your meal comped, a free t-shirt and your name on Tipsy’s Wall.

Bella Italia’s 30” Team Pizza Challenge

Have you ever even seen a pizza 30 inches big? You and up to two of your friends will have to tackle this challenge together. Eat the whole pizza in 30 minutes or less to get your meal for free and your name on Bella Italia’s Wall of Fame. There are no topping requirements, but eating 30 inches of a plain cheese pizza might get a little bland, yeah?

Tios’ 5lb Mount Nacheesmo Challenge

Tios says it’s meant to be shared between 4-5 people, but can you gobble down five pounds of nachos by yourself? Can you do it in 45 minutes or less? Tios Mexican Cafe in Ann Arbor is posing that challenge with the 5lb Mount Nacheesmo Challenge. Expect beef, chicken, beans, cheddar and jack cheeses, tomatoes, green peppers, black olives, lettuce, onions, sour cream and guacamole. Oh, and tortilla chips, of course; just in case you felt like you needed more carbs.

Pho Lucky’s Big Bowl Pho Challenge

We covered Pho Lucky and a few other places you can grab a good bowl of pho in the area back in April, but if you’re looking for a challenge, Pho Lucky’s Big Bowl Pho Challenge is calling your name. Step up to the plate, or bowl in this case, and get ready to slurp up two pounds of beef and three pounds of noodles (note: drinking the broth is not required to pass the challenge). You have one hour, so pace yourself. Upon completion, you will receive a free meal, free t-shirt and your picture on the Pho Lucky Wall of Fame.

Pancho Villa’s Super Burrito Challenge

Clocking in at a whopping eight pounds, this is the heaviest challenge on this list. Pancho Villa’s in Sterling Heights is challenging you to eat an eight-pound burrito stuffed with beans, rice and your choice of meat in an hour or less. Do so successfully and you’ll nab a free meal and your picture on their Wall of Fame. Only three pictures can be found on Pancho Villa’s website if that’s any indication of just how tough this challenge is.
