If there’s one thing us Metro Detroiters can’t get enough of, it’s burgers. Everyone’s got their favorite local gem, and new burger restaurants are popping up left and right. Honestly, burger restaurants are like gas stations: you can’t go too far down the road without spotting one. But I’m not complaining.
Personally, I am of the belief that it is simply wrong to consume a burger that isn’t topped with a slice (or two or three) of delicious, melt-y cheese. Let your mind wander, and answer the following question: what could make a cheeseburger that much better? I’ve got the answer! If the cheese, along with a myriad of other toppings, were stuffed inside said burger. That’s right dear reader; it’s time for our list of tastiest stuffed burgers in the D:
Dino’s, 22740 Woodward Ave., Ferndale, serves its own Stuffed B.F.J. Burger, a quarter pound of ground sirloin stuffed with American, Swiss and mozzarella cheese, bacon, pepperoni and garlic. Essentially, anything that is stuffed with bacon sounds appealing in my book.
This burger can be made extra phenomenal by ordering an additional slice of cheese on top. Also, if you tend to like things on the spicy side, you can add jalapenos free of charge.
Cutter’s Bar and Grill, 2638 Orleans St., Detroit, inside of Eastern Market, is an all-American restaurant with six, yes six, different stuffed burgers on its menu.
You have your choice of an 8 oz. burger stuffed with cheddar cheese and bacon; cheddar cheese topped with a fried egg; bleu cheese and green olives; Swiss, mushrooms and grilled onions; mozzarella and pepperoni; or pepper jack and pepperoni.
Each burger is made with fresh, never frozen ground beef and they’re all under $10. All menu items are available for dine in, delivery or carry out, so you can enjoy a stuffed burger whether you have time to sit down or are on the go.
Union Woodshop, 18 S. Main St., Clarkston, is known for its mac n’ cheese, but the restaurant has a menu full of ‘shop burgers, including the Juicy Lucy.
Reminiscent of the Minneapolis staple, the burger consists of two patties stuffed with American cheese, which are then grilled to perfection. Before hitting the table, it’s topped with pickled red onion, which you might want to hold if you’re on a date.
Rosie O’Grady’s, 279 W. Nine Mile Rd., Ferndale, has a stuffed burger on its menu, but it’s only available at this location (there are additional Rosie O’Grady’s in Chesterfield, Southgate and Sterling Heights).
Emily’s Cobb is a burger stuffed with bleu cheese, topped with jack cheese, bacon and avocado. I don’t know if you’ve noticed yet, but bacon and avocado are two of my favorite things, so this sounds like a reasonable option.
Northville Sports Den, 133 W. Main St., Northville, also has a Juicy Lucy on its menu, which consists of two quarter-pound patties stuffed with two slices of cheese of your choice. It’s served with lettuce, tomato and onion, but with a burger this good, extra toppings are really not necessary.
If you’re planning a trip to the Den, keep in mind that burgers cost just $2 on Wednesdays. All burgers are served with a bag of chips and a pickle, but you can substitute anything from a house salad to shoestring fries to onion rings.

Whether you prefer your burger stuffed with cheese, bacon, pepperoni or green olives, there’s a perfect stuffed burger waiting for you in Metro Detroit.
