Sweet & Creamy Holiday Dessert Inspired Cocktails

With every season comes signature drink flavors, and during the holidays, it’s all about dessert drinks. Why eat a piece of pumpkin pie or a gingerbread cookie when you can drink them?

Of course spiked eggnog is an at-home party standby, but when you’re out on the town, take a sip of a festive holiday-inspired cocktail that you might not find elsewhere. They taste just like Christmas in a glass!

Centaur Bar, 2233 Park Ave., Detroit, is all about martinis. While you can find just about any flavor on the menu, the Gingerbread martini and Peppermint martini are most authentic to the season. And forget the figgy pudding—they’ve even got a Fig martini that tastes just like a Fig Newton.

Amici’s Gourmet Pizza & Living Room, 3249 12 Mile Rd., Berkley, is known for its exquisite pizza. It just so happens that they also have one of the most extensive martini lists around. The Pumpkin Pie-tini tastes just like the real thing, sans crust. Same with the Key Lime Pie martini, which is topped with a dollop of whipped cream.

No holiday table would be complete (at least in my book) without tiramisu, and Amici’s has a delightful Tiramisu martini made with vodka, Frangelico and espresso. If you enjoy truffles around the holiday season (and who doesn’t?), you might want to select the Chocolate martini made with Godiva.

Bistro Joe’s, 34244 Woodward Ave., Birmingham, knows that no Christmas would be complete without a partridge in a pear tree. You’ll find a Pear Ginger Martini on the menu, a lighter and healthier alternative to some holiday dessert type drinks. Have you ever tasted a pear tart? If not, you’re missing out! They’ve also got a fig-infused bourbon drink (Fig Chartreuse) and a Chocolate Espresso Martini (the perfect substitution for your holiday mousse).

Moose’s Martini Pub, 22217 Michigan Ave., Dearborn, serves several specialty dessert martinis, including Tiramisu (see above), Grasshopper (tastes just like those delightful minty chocolate squares), Cheesecake (enough said) and Mudslide (coffee + chocolate = yum).

Silky’s Lounge, 21931 Michigan Ave., Dearborn, is the place to go when you’re looking for a martini, especially a dessert-inspired one. The Chocolate French Kiss (complete with Dark Godiva and a chocolate rim), Dirty Snowball (vanilla vodka with Frangelico, dark cocoa, cream and chocolate syrup), Sugar Baby (vanilla vodka, butterscotch schnapps and Dark Godiva), Oatmeal Cookie, and Mint Chocolate Chip martinis all include the best seasonal flavors.

While you’re out on the town indulging in holiday drinks, remember to drink responsibly!

Cheers!
