Dining out can be expensive, but it’s also possible to do so on a budget. Keeping your stomach satisfied without depleting your wallet is a goal that is within reach, people! If you’re cheap, er, careful with your money, take a cue from the expert (me).

Keep your eyes peeled for specials at local restaurants that fall on certain days of the week. Then, you’ll know when you can find your favorite pizza pie for half off, or when you can grab a discounted burger with a group of friends. I have gone ahead and compiled a list to get you started. Let’s take a look!

Sunday

Penny Black Grill & Tap, 124 W. 4th St., Rochester, is a great establishment for you football fans out there. Spend the day kicking back with a brew and $0.50 wings all day long. Smoked wings are tossed in your choice of sauce: spicy, sweet barbecue, maple Sriracha or buffalo sauce. Did I mention pitchers are half off all day as well? Go team!

Adventure starts with a vehicle that’s up for anything. Trailblazer combines comfort you want, the versatility you need, and the technology to make every moment count.

Compari’s, 350 S. Main St., Plymouth, also has half off pizzas on Sundays, as well as Mondays. What a great way to start the week! Premium pizzas include Spinach & Wild Mushroom, Napolitana (with mozzarella, Romano, olive oil, garlic, basil and tomato) and Compari’s Special (topped with pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham, bacon, green pepper, mushroom and onions). Keep in mind that Compari’s also has $5 select pasta dishes on Tuesdays!

Monday

Shores Inn Food & Spirits, 23410 Greater Mack Ave., St. Clair Shores, has its weekly Burger Bash on Mondays. Enjoy a burger and fries for just $4.99 while you play trivia and throw back $3 bomb shots. Okay, you can pick one or two items to indulge in since it is Monday, but I wouldn’t blame you if you went with all three. Tuesdays are Fajita Frenzy nights (chicken, steak or combo), Wednesdays include All You Can Eat Perch from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Thursdays include a half slab of ribs special.

Basement Burger Bar, with locations in Farmington Hills and Canton, has half off appetizers to get your week started right. The fine print excludes wings and the sampler platter, but you still have plenty to pick from. Starters include Bavarian Pretzels, Mac & Cheese Bites, Mozzarella Cheese Sticks and more. Should you have a schedule conflict on Monday, don’t fret: Basement Burger Bar has other daily specials throughout the week, including buy one appetizer, get one free on Tuesdays and buy one salad, get one free on Wednesdays.

Tuesday

Loco’s Tex-Mex Grille, 454 E. Lafayette St., Detroit, is another establishment with a daily special. Taco Tuesdays, anyone? Head to Greektown for tacos that are just $1! At that price, you can purchase a dozen and share with your friends. Beef, chicken, shrimp; they’re all great choices.

Mario’s Restaurant, 4222 2nd Ave., Detroit, is an Italian eatery that has been around for over 65 years. On Tuesdays, you can enjoy a Whole Maine Lobster dinner with red skin potato and corn on the cob for just $13.99. You won’t find a deal this great or delicious anywhere else!

Wednesday

Rusty Nail Lounge, 43845 Ford Rd., Canton, has plenty of specials throughout the week, including $0.75 Coney dogs on Wednesdays. Other deals include two mini burgers for $3.25 on Tuesdays and $0.40 wings on Sundays. At rates this cheap, you can afford to eat out all week long!

Niki’s Pizza, 735 Beaubien St., Detroit, is located in Greektown and serves up another pizza special, if you’re not quite pizza-ed out by midweek. Pepperoni pizzas are half off all day today!

Fiamma Grille, 380 S. Main St., Plymouth, is a pretty ritzy restaurant, so much so that admittedly I’ve only been there once and ordered the cheapest salad on the menu. However, if you’ve got expensive and sophisticated tastes, you’ll enjoy half off oysters and bubbles here on Wednesdays.

Thursday

The Hideout, 1110 W. 14 Mile Rd., Clawson, is a great sports bar to spend your Thursday evening at. Between 5 p.m. and 1 a.m., grab a half-pound burger and fries or a chicken sandwich for under $5! Additional specials throughout the week include $2 tacos on Tuesdays, half off pizzas on Wednesdays and buy one get one free calzones on Saturdays.

Friday

Sean O’Callaghan’s, 821 Penniman Ave., Plymouth, offers half off fish and chips from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., during prime lunchtime hours. Chicken wing specials are good all day on Sundays and Mondays, while Angus burgers are just $2 on Tuesdays.

Lefty’s Lounge, 5440 Cass Ave., Detroit, is home to Chicken Tender Fridays, where you can order a four piece chicken tender meal with fries for less than $5. The rest of the week includes Pulled Pork Nachos on Saturdays and Black Angus Burger and Fries on Thursdays, amongst others.

Saturday

McShane’s Irish Pub & Whiskey Bar, 1460 Michigan Ave., Detroit, is more than just a great place to drink whiskey. The daily feature on Saturdays is a quarter pound All Beef Dog or Johnsonville Brat with fries for just $3.99. Throughout the week, try the Sloppy Joe and Fries (on Mondays), Pulled Barbecue Chicken Sandwich and Fries (on Tuesdays), Shepherd’s Pie (on Thursdays) and Beer Battered Fish Sandwich and Fries (on Fridays).

The next time your stomach grumbles and you haven’t gone grocery shopping, look over the list above for some inspiration. Remember, dining out doesn’t have to break the bank!
