Thanksgiving 101: Holiday Cooking Classes in Metro Detroit

Whether you are hosting a holiday meal for the first time or fiftieth, there’s no doubt you’ll find yourself stressed. There are many holiday-themed cooking classes in Metro Detroit that will help both veteran chefs and those unfamiliar with the kitchen hone skills, impress family members, and produce quality dishes this holiday season.

Mirepoix, the premiere cooking school located inside of Royal Oak’s Holiday Market, is offering many cooking classes with a holiday twist. Sign up for Cooking with Cider on Nov. 7, Thanksgiving Side Dishes on Nov. 22 and 23 or Holiday Brunch Ideas on Nov. 28.

These classes cost $69.99 per person.

BAKE! with Zing, located in Ann Arbor, will give you the confidence you need to whip up any Thanksgiving pie or Christmas cookie you desire! Consider enrolling in Savory Pies on Nov. 15, Creative Cookies on Nov. 18 or Baking Pies a Plenty on Nov. 23.

Classes cost $125. To give you an idea of how popular these are—the Fancy Schmancy Holiday Cookies class is offered on more than four dozen occasions this holiday season, and every last one is sold out!

Victoria’s Reserve of Goodison offers both wine and cooking events, either of which you can take advantage of this holiday season! Thanksgiving Cooking for a Crowd on Nov. 11 will help calm your nerves, and Make and Take Gifts for the Holidays on Dec. 1 is a delicious way to take care of gift giving.

Both classes cost $45 per person.

Taste: A Cook’s Place, located in Northville, offers plenty of Thanksgiving dinner prep help, including Meatless Monday: A Vegetarian Thanksgiving on Nov. 16 and New Ideas for Thanksgiving Side Dishes and Desserts on Nov. 24.

If you’re hosting Christmas dinner, try Cookies for Christmas on Nov. 30, A Champagne Holiday Brunch on Dec. 10 or A French Christmas Feast on Dec. 21. Classes start at 6:30 p.m. and cost $50 unless otherwise noted.
