It’s no surprise that one of the biggest party nights of the year is the eve of Thanksgiving. Having Thanksgiving off from work and school, seeing old friends and family or wanting to escape the stress of the holiday are all legitimate reasons to go out. Lucky for you, the metro Detroit area has some great events that are sure to guarantee a fun night out before the holiday. Here are five bars and parties to check out this year.
We could all use a laugh during the stressful holiday season. Luckily, the Crofoot Ballroom agrees as they will be hosting stand-up comedian Mike Young for one night on Thanksgiving Eve. The comedian is known for his appearances on Showtime, The Late Show, and wrote/directed the Netflix film, A Stand Up Guy. He will also be joined by Stevie Soul and DJ Bam.
If you need to get your classic rock fix before the Thanksgiving holiday, check out John Cowley & Sons on Thanksgiving Eve. Phoenix Theory will be hitting the stage on Wednesday night for a good, old-fashioned rock-and-roll show. The Irish pub always has plenty of great beers on tap and a wide selection of food options, making it a great choice to spend the night before Thanksgiving.
Danny Brown will be headlining this year’s Bruiser Thanksgiving III at the Fountain Ballroom inside the Masonic Temple. The event is known for throwing a good concert on the eve of Thanksgiving, with this year looking to be no exception. The Detroit rapper has been on the rise since 2013, having opened for Eminem at two sold out Wembley Stadium concerts and appeared on the “Detroit vs. Everybody” track. This year’s lineup also includes Joey Bada$$ and Zgetoboys.

PJ’s Lager House in Corktown Detroit prides itself on having the best bar food, drinks and, of course, great music. This Wednesday will feature Nique Love Rhodes & The NLR Experience hitting the stage for an energetic performance. The Detroit-based hip-hop artist aims to inspire listeners to improve themselves and their communities — music befitting the holiday season.
