This might sound nuts, but peanuts have their own celebratory month. March is National Peanut Month, which might have you now contemplating whether or not you think peanuts really deserve that much recognition. If you’re on the fence, these local dishes featuring peanuts will help you land in the peanut lover territory.

Stirring things up (Seva)

Try not having your mouth water while you read this: the Cilantro-Peanut Stir Fry at Seva features broccoli, peppers, mushrooms, mung sprouts, green onions & carrots over brown rice, in a cilantro-peanut-ginger-lime sauce. The dish is then topped with roasted peanuts. With locations in Detroit and Ann Arbor, Seva has become a top choice for vegetarians and vegans, and with dishes like this, we can see why.

Fiery side of peanuts (Fly Trap)

The Fly Trap in downtown Ferndale is known for their unique dishes, especially when it comes to their brunch options. A couple of their lunch/dinner options have twists too, including the Fire-Breathing Dragon which is a grilled chicken with chilled wheat noodles, sweet basil, and topped with a delicious sambal peanut sauce. It has a little bit of a kick to it but the Fly Trap also features a full beer and wine bar, along with plenty of juice and coffee options to wash it down.

Hurry in for some curry (Trinosophes)

If you are looking for a vegan stew to celebrate National Peanut Month, the people at Trinosophes have just the dish for you. The Gujarati Peanut Curry is a spicy and tangy lentil stew with basmati rice that will satisfy your peanut need. The restaurant is known for their brunch and early afternoon specials and features options from local meat and dairy farms.

Adventure starts with a vehicle that’s up for anything. Trailblazer combines comfort you want, the versatility you need, and the technology to make every moment count.

Sweet endings (Wright & Company and Central Kitchen & Bar)

Peanuts are a great way to spice up any type of food, but peanut butter can also be used to great effect to sweeten a well-deserved dessert. Wright & Company has some of the best American small plates around, including some tasty dessert options. For peanut fans, their Banana Bread Pudding is made with peanut butter ganache, chocolate anglaise, and hazelnuts. Meanwhile, Central Kitchen & Bar in Detroit has a Peanut Butter Semifreddo that features Nutella and cookie crumble.

You can also enjoy National Peanut Month by trying your own peanut inspired dishes but you should definitely consider getting a little nutty this month and try some of these great local dishes featuring peanuts.
