The Michigan Actors Studio is the perfect place to either start out your acting career or fine tune your craft. The studio offers a wide range of acting lessons from high qualified private coaches in areas such as acting for film, voice acting, and even improv. The studio also has lessons in writing for television, filming, and public speaking.

Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle

You might go to Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle to catch the next up-and-coming stand-up comedian, but you can also go there to take a six-week comedy class. The class is designed to be a fun and motivating way to get the best material out of you, which will culminate in a seven minute stand up set you will prepare throughout the session. There is also an advanced class with Joel Fragomeni.

The Actor’s Workshop

For more than 32 years, the Actor’s Workshop in Madison Heights has offered the highest quality of acting classes and technical training for metro Detroit actors and filmmakers. The workshop also offers a Youth Actors Program and notifies students of auditions and casting calls in the area. Their spring term starts in March. Go Comedy! Improv Theater

Widely considered one of the best improv and sketch comedy clubs in the area, Go Comedy! also offers improv courses for beginners and advanced performers. Their Go U program will work with your comedic style and teach you how to bring your talents to the stage. Classes start on March 14 and you must be registered by March 10.

Matrix Theatre Company

The Matrix Theatre in downtown Detroit thrives on being one of downtown Detroit’s most affordable and educational theatre programs for young actors in the area.
