You might think of the metro Detroit area as a suburban or metropolitan landscape, and while you’re mostly right, the area actually has some great farms. Because of Michigan’s diverse seasons, these farms are able to offer a wide range of fruits and vegetables for you to pick throughout the spring, summer, and fall months. So whether you’re looking for blueberries, raspberries, or even peaches, these metro Detroit produce farms have the fresh fruits and vegetables you’re looking for this summer and upcoming fall!

Rowe’s Produce Farm

For over 40 years, Rowe’s Produce Farm has been providing the Ypsilanti area with the best grown fruits and vegetables in the summer, and transforms into a farm market in the fall. The farm recently concluded their summer U-pick strawberry and pea season and has now moved on to the early stages of their farm market season. Items include cucumbers, cabbage, bananas, squash, and bi-color sweet corn. Be sure to check out their Facebook page for updates on what you’re able to pick.

Berry Hill Farm

If you’re looking for a berry good time, it’s hard to find a better place than Berry Hill Farm in Chelsea. The farm recently began their U-pick berry season with black raspberries. Fall is red raspberry season and usually begins around mid-August and continues into October. If you do plan on heading out to the farm, check their Facebook page before walking out the door to find out which berries are ripe enough to pick.

Hazen’s Blueberry Farm

Hazen’s Blueberry Farm has been one of the top family-owned U-Pick farms in the area for over 50 years. It is currently the farm’s peak blueberry season and is expected to conclude by the end of July. If picking blueberries isn’t your thing, the farm’s Country Store is where you can find jellies, jams, sweet treats, and their award-winning raw honey.

Miller’s Big Red Farms

Offering a wide variety of in-season U-Pick fruits including apples, raspberries, strawberries, and pumpkins in the fall, Miller’s Big Red is one of the oldest U-Pick farms in the area. This fall will give you and your family the opportunity to enjoy wagon rides, cider, and pick from the ripest pumpkins in the patch.
