As Detroiters, we know that the coney dog is a staple and forever will be. But, as delicious as a good coney dog is, sometimes you want to mix it up a little bit. From vegan to bacon-wrapped, these coney dogs put an interesting twist on a classic Detroit recipe.
While not a “coney” in name, Imperial’s “Chino Sonoran” is close to the original with one key modifier that can be summarized in three words: bacon-wrapped hot dog. That’s right. This hot dog is wrapped snugly in a layer of bacon and topped with chorizo chili, chipotle mustard, white onion and cilantro.

Located in Ann Arbor and Saline, Mark’s Midtown serves up a “Coney Taco” that is equal parts coney and taco. Ground beef, chili, lettuce, tomato, cheese and taco sauce on a steamed hot dog bun or pita make this a coney worth checking off the bucket list.
