Anyone who loves the autumn season knows that some really exciting activities come along with the falling of the leaves and the dropping of the temperatures.  Who doesn’t love a good art fair, trip to the cider mill, or even a breathtaking color tour? If I‘m speaking candidly though, I have to admit that none of the wonderful aforementioned activities rank above my personal favorite… beer festivals!

As a card-carrying beer supporter, I can’t think of anything better than a celebration of beer and all its glory. The beer festival, also commonly known as Oktoberfest, is often modeled after the original festival held annually in Munich, Germany. Oktoberfest is one the world’s largest fairs and has been around since the early 1800’s. That’s a long time to have been celebrating beer!

Now I don’t know about you, but I surely can’t justify an annual trip to Germany. That is why it is so exciting that the German tradition has made its way outside of the country, and in this case, to the Metro Detroit area! With festivals beginning as early as this weekend, the remainder of September and the month of October are sure to be eventful.

Those of you who have a passion for hops like myself, perhaps you already have plans to attend a local Oktoberfest in or near your hometown. Now if that’s the case, might I suggest you take a moment to consider attending one (or all) of the beer celebrations listed below as well?

The Silverado is the truck that works as hard as you do.

At the off chance that you don’t have a festival happening close enough to your home… why not make one? Set up some decorations in your basement or garage, call over your closest friends and have everyone bring their favorite mug and beer of choice. The celebration is about the beer after all. And most beer drinkers know that with every twist of the cap or crack of the tab, no matter the location, a good time is almost always in the cards!
