Now in its seventh year, the ovarian cancer awareness event Wheels and Teal will be taking place this Saturday, September 15th. The event is held in the Village of Rochester Hills and kicks off with a 5K fun run/walk.

“Our goal is to connect the ovarian cancer color of teal with Detroit’s passion for cars,” said Wheels & Teal Car Show Chair Michelle Shores. “With the hope that one day, there will be better ways of prevention, early detection, & treatment plans to save more women’s lives.”

The 5K fun run/walk is untimed and meant to be fun for all participants. Runners/walkers can set up a fundraising page to point their friends and family members towards, so they can  help raise more money for ovarian cancer research.

After the 5K, everyone is invited to participate in the Teal event. It includes the Teal and Turquoise Classic Car Show, musical entertainment, activities for kids, shopping, dining and a raffle with more than $6,000 worth of prizes being given away. Those who participate in the 5K will receive a free raffle ticket. Additional tickets can be purchased.
