The holidays are right around the corner which means it is time to volunteer for a great cause!  What better way to start off your cheerful, holiday mood than by helping those in need?

Soup Kitchens in the Metro Detroit area are always looking for volunteers and Capuchin Soup Kitchen in Detroit is no exception.

Whether you are by yourself or in a group, Capuchin is eager to have people help out.

They ask you to bring three important things with you: a willingness to work hard, an open and positive attitude, and a smile.

Enough room for your pets. Enough room for everything they need. See why Suburban is perfect for you… and your four-legged friends.

Roy Hoelscher, the Volunteer Coordinator of Capuchin, suggests potential volunteers consider many different dates of the year to visit Capuchin, since days like Thanksgiving and Christmas fill up so quickly.

“We like to encourage persons to look at dates that might have special meaning to a given family, including specific birthdates, wedding anniversaries, passing of a loved one, etc.,” said Hoelscher.

The most intriguing part of the interview with Roy was when he talked about how many people required to do community service with the organization rarely want to leave upon completion of their requirements.

“When you do something for someone else you actually feel like you’ve done something spiritual for yourself,” said Hoelscher.
