There are a lot of changes that come with the autumn season; the weather, school schedules, daylight savings, and of course, nature. The transition from the blossoming beauty of spring and summer to the colorful change of leaves in the fall allows for some truly breathtaking images. So if you’re looking to capture that striking change, here are some spots in the D that will allow you to do just that.

Wolcott Mill Metropark

A perfect autumn park near the Clinton River, Wolcott Mill Metropark in Ray features wooded paths perfect for fall imagery. The trails are filled with meadows leading to the Clinton River and lead to open fields, making for a perfect backdrop to the setting sun. Be sure to visit the historic mill, public farm, greenhouse, and crop fields for even more photo opportunities. 

Addison Oaks Park

Addison Oaks County Park

Featuring a 20-mile trail system, two lakes, and spring-fed ponds, Addison Oaks Park in Leonard offers perfect backdrops for some autumn photos. The trail allows photographers to capture brightly colored leaves and peaceful nature in the autumn months. The park also hosts numerous community events throughout the year that you can check out on their website.

Seven Lakes State Park

Combining farm lands, rolling hills, and forests, Seven Lakes State Park in Holly has plenty of great picturesque settings in the fall months. The large lake (not seven lakes like the name suggests) is peaceful, making for breathtaking sunset views. The lake is also known as a great spot for fishing in the early morning.

Barton Nature Area

The 102-acre park running along the Huron River, Barton Nature Area is a great way to experience all sorts of scenic views during the autumn months. The main trail features plenty of trees and dirt paths that lead to bridges over marsh and other wildlife. There’s also a smaller section of the park that is only accessible by boat from Barton Pond which features a trail leading to an open woodland for more unique photo opportunities.  

Delhi Metropark

Featuring tall oak trees along a bend of the Huron River, Delhi Metropark combines the calmness of water with the beauty of falling leaves from its trees. The park is a favorite for locals to canoe down the peaceful river and take in the scenic views.There are also picnic shelters to help you make an afternoon out of the photo shoot.
