Did you know you can play video games and support a good cause at the same time?
You can if you’re attending this year’s Gamers for Giving two-day charity event April 1-2 at Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center, of which Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers is a sponsor. Gamers for Giving is held annually by Gamers Outreach, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and the idea behind the event is simple: get a bunch of people together to play video games while promoting the work of Gamers Outreach.

Gamers Outreach supports 100k+ children receiving medical treatment in hospitals per year and that support comes in the form of video games. Using what it calls the GO Kart, a portable entertainment center on wheels with everything someone needs to play video games, Gamers Outreach works with children’s hospitals across the country to provide something other than medical treatment, but maybe just as important.
“We’re so proud to have the support of our Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers,” said Gamers Outreach founder Zach Wigal. “So many of our team members drive Chevrolet vehicles – including yours truly! It’s inspiring to see a group of people who represent such an iconic brand get behind our efforts. Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers are making an incredible difference for hospitalized children, and we can’t wait for their GO Kart donation to benefit patients right here in Detroit!”
Through donations received during Gamers for Giving and other fundraising efforts, Gamers Outreach has exponentially increased its funding goals year-over-year. Considering last year’s goal of $100,000 was nearly doubled at $172,000, we’re pretty confident that through your kind donations, Gamers Outreach will crush this year’s goal of $200,000. Beyond that goal, Wigal and the folks at Gamers Outreach already have their sights set on where they want to go next.
“We’re working to improve the delivery process of our GO Karts, and create opportunities for the gaming community to get involved,” Wigal said. “Effectively doing both of those two things are a major focus for us this next year!”
