Planting tree on green globe

Earth Day 2019 is all about “protecting our species”. With the theme of making sure the endangered species are protected globally, this will be the task at hand. But right here in the Metro Detroit area, non-profit organization Brightmoor Artisan Collective will be teaming up with the nationally recognized One Tree Planted and Cities4Forest for Earth Day 2019.

With the alarming rates of global destruction along with the negative effects of climate change, uninhabitable agriculture, pollution and pesticides changes the overall livelihood of endangered species around us. What better way to save our precious earth and the species in it, than to get your hands dirty and plant a tree? Why are trees important to an urban area such as Metro Detroit?  Brightmoor Artisans Collective is working to create a safe space for our community where all species can cohabitate in a healthy environment, and trees promote that.

From the smallest of insects all the way to us humans, we all play very important roles in nature. This is why Brightmoor Artisan Collective will be hosting a tree planting for Earth Day on April 27th from 10am -2pm.  Behind the community center, volunteers will be planting several lots of trees, along with crop garden space and perennials. This is a family friendly event as well. Please contact Gabriela directly at the Brightmoor Artisan Collective at gabriela@onetreeplanted.org for more information.

Brightmoor Artisans Collective (BAC) was founded in 2014 with the intention of creating and maintaining a safe space where community members could creatively work and learn together to process, market, and consume affordable, healthy food.

One Tree Planted is a 501c3 non-profit based in Vermont that is focused on global reforestation. We plant in 4 regions around the world – North America, South America, Asia & Africa. Every dollar donated helps plant one tree.

Cities4Forests aims to catalyze political, social, and economic support among city governments and urban residents to integrate the inner, nearby and faraway forests into city development plans and programs. Cities4Forests cultivates awareness on the part of urban residents to recognize the important role of forests and trees to human wellbeing, and stimulates action to better conserve, manage, and restore those forests.
