Join us for A Walk at the Zoo!
Get ready for a day of fun, community, and philanthropy! Shades of Pink Foundation is proud to present its annual fundraiser, SOPF A Walk at the Zoo, on Saturday, April 29, sponsored by your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers.
Since 2005, Shades of Pink Foundation has worked tirelessly to support those undergoing treatment for breast cancer throughout nine counties in Southeastern Michigan. This support is targeted to address the immediate financial needs of patients by providing funding for daily living expenses, whether it be rent/mortgage costs, childcare, transportation costs, and more. Since its founding, Shades of Pink has distributed over 2.3 million dollars to more than 1,000 individuals and their families, directly meeting the needs of the Southeast Michigan community.
This year marks the one-decade anniversary of Metro Detroit Chevy Dealer’s commitment to the cause. Our 38 local Chevrolet dealers are proud to support an organization that does so much good for the community of which we are a part.
This year’s walk will certainly be a day to remember. From 7:00 a.m., the Big Top will open with vendors, snacks, refreshments, and raffle basket sales. There are 18 fabulous raffle baskets- including a U of M basket and MSU basket to see who will raise more funds. With so many fantastic items up for grabs, you won’t want to miss your chance to snag a prize. The Big Top will close at 12 noon, with raffle basket winners to be announced at 11:00 a.m.
The annual Scavenger Hunt has been updated thanks to a Clawson High School student group. They are organizing various activities at each scavenger hunt stop. Walkers will be given an animal passport to complete as they visit each activity for a chance to win four tickets to the Detroit Zoo. This is thanks to the generous donation of the Detroit Zoo.
There will also be live entertainment, including dancers Amiga del Busto, Ballet Folklorico de Detroit and the Shannon Irish Dance Academy and Performance Company. Food and beverages will be available from vendors including Cappuccino Man serving coffee drinks, Kate’s Real Foods energy bars, and Krispy Kreme donuts. The Mimosa/Bloody Mary cash bar will be back as well.
But that’s not all! Your ticket also grants you access to the zoo for the entire day, as long as you enter before 9:00 a.m. So after you’ve checked out the Big Top, take a stroll around the zoo and enjoy all the incredible animals and exhibits.
Walkers, survivors, and sponsors will be welcomed with open arms and inspiring stories. The Gratitude Tent will provide the space for walkers to honor loved ones’ battle with breast cancer.
