Part of the joy of living in Michigan is having four seasons and all of the activities that entails; going to the beach in the summer, ice skating in the winter and heading to cider mills in the fall

The sweetness of apple cider paired with a warm donut is enough to get us out to our favorite mill, but there’s another reason to go: pumpkins. Plenty of local orchards allow you to pick the perfect pumpkin for your family to enjoy during the autumn season.

Westview Orchards & Winery

Celebrating more than 200 years(!) as a family farm, Westview Orchards & Winery has plenty of family-friendly activities (and some grown-up ones too). Their seasonal pumpkin picking features a wagon ride out to their patch where they have plenty of pumpkins to choose from. Staff are asking customers to wear a mask and maintain six feet of social distancing. The orchard also features a petting farm, yoga, live music and many more activities that can be found on their Facebook page.

Debuck’s Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch

One of the top family destinations in the fall, Debuck’s Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch, features a 20-acre pumpkin patch. Whether you want a pumpkin that is round and orange or tall and green, Debuck’s has a huge variety to choose from.Their giant 15-acre corn maze is a huge attraction for families every year, as well as the Country Kitchen, which serves homemade donuts, apple cider, hot dogs, nachos, candy bars and more. Coleman’s Farm Markets

Whether it’s Christmas trees in the winter, fresh produce in the spring or fully-grown pumpkins in the fall, Coleman’s Farm Markets in Ypsilanti has all of your seasonal needs. From now until the end of October, you can find perfectly sized pumpkins for any and all uses. You’ll also be able to find bales of straw, apple cider, and plenty of fresh produce including fruit and vegetables. Bird’s Big Pumpkins

The Halloween season is filled with plenty of monsters, including Bird’s Big Pumpkins monster pumpkins. Their patch is full of tall, wide and huge pumpkins perfect for decorating or carving. The patch is cash-only and updates can be found on the farm’s Facebook page.

Long Family Orchard & Farm

Located in Commerce, Long Family Orchard & Farm carries a plethora of vegetables, including corn and pumpkins. This year, they will be providing drive-thru service in response to COVID-19 safety precautions. Their pumpkin supply will be available beginning in October, but you can head to the farm earlier for corn on the cob, mums and more.
