Feeding Healthcare Heroes, supporting local restaurants, and showing your gracious spirit, we thank you for helping make the Top 10 Cares Program a resounding success.

The Detroit Free Press and your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers teamed up four weeks ago to create the Top 10 Cares Program. The goal was to raise $100,000 to help feed 5,000 local Healthcare Heroes, while also helping local restaurants weather the Coronavirus pandemic. The generosity of Metro Detroiters not only helped the program meet their goal, but vastly exceeded that $100,000.

Top 10 Cares has raised more than $156,000 over the course of four weeks, allowing us to feed even more Healthcare Heroes and supporting more local restaurants. Previous winners of the Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Top 10 Best New Restaurants provided nutritious meals to healthcare workers at participating Detroit area hospitals including Beaumont, Henry Ford Health Systems, Providence/Ascension and DMC. These restaurants included Grey Ghost, Ima, Mink, Marrow, Folk, SheWolf, Pernoi, Leila, Yum Village, and Saffron De Twah.

Because of the overwhelming support, the Top 10 Cares program was able to add another 10 restaurants to help. Balkan House, Chartreuse, Karl’s, Lady of the House, Magnet, Norma G’s, The Peterboro, Takoi, Voyager, and Wright & Company provided meals and will benefit from the generous support.

Meals are still being passed out at local hospitals and will continue through May 22nd. The cost of the meals helped cover food costs, labor, individual containers, delivery and to fill the losses they are suffering by not having patrons in their restaurants. The goal of the Top 10 Cares program was to help these restaurants weather this unprecedented storm, and the overwhelming support will help do just that.

Thank you to all that supported the Top 10 Cares program for helping these local restaurants and helping us show our appreciation to local Healthcare Heroes. You can find information on the Top 10 Cares program on the campaign’s Fundrazr page.
