May is in full swing, so it’s time to get off the couch and go outside for some good old fashion exercise. Metro Detroit has plenty of great places to go and break a sweat in the great outdoors. Here’s a list of a few events and places to check out if you’re looking to add a little spice to your next workout.

Riverfront Fit Park

Entering its second year, the Riverfront Fit Park is a collection of stationary, permanently installed exercise equipment located on the beautiful Detroit Riverwalk along the Dequindre Cut. The Riverfront Fit Park offers wellness and exercise programs for you to get the most out of this fitness park, still in its infancy.

Slow Roll Detroit

Celebrating its sixth season, Slow Roll Detroit is a group of bicyclists of all skill levels and ages that meets weekly Monday nights going on slow rolling trips on bikes through the city of Detroit. If you happen to be a repeat cyclist with Slow Roll Detroit, you’ll enjoy different routes each time, changing up the locale and scenery each week.

RUNdetroit

While RUNdetroit sells running gear and apparel, it also hosts running groups in the city. Check out the link above to see all of the running groups you can join in the city. The RUNdetroit group meets every Saturday at 8:00 a.m. year-round, rain or shine and offers three, six, and ten mile route options.

Whether you're going out on a fishing trip, discovering new hiking spots, or heading out for a weekend of camping, the Trailblazer is an ideal companion for your active lifestyle.
