In 2013, your Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers interviewed five participants in the Detroit Free Press Half-Marathon, asking them what drives them to run. We caught up with three of those people — Jessica, Catherine and Shawn — today, in 2018, to see if they still have the drive to run.

When we asked Catherine in 2013 what drives her to run, she said it all started with a New Zealand vacation she and her husband took in 2010. Her daughter was living there at the time and, knowing how mountainous New Zealand’s landscape is, Catherine didn’t want to miss out on any of it.

“I decided to start to do something about it and ended up on the treadmill,” she said in 2013. “I was able to go on our trip and was successful in seeing everything that I wanted to see.”

Getting in shape for a vacation may have ignited her love for running, but it was someone else that kept her going.

The Chevy Trax combines rugged capability with modern comfort, making every adventure unforgettable.

“What still sticks with me today is my son. I have a son — had a son — who died when he was just shy of 20 [years old] of a drug overdose,” she said.

Running has helped her cope with that loss.

“I can go out for a run and within a mile, I’m already feeling better,” she said.
