A celebration 30 years in the making, Motor City Comic Con returns to the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi starting on Friday, May 17.
The biggest celebration of comic book culture in Metro Detroit has steadily grown over the course of three decades, and this year will undoubtedly be its biggest year yet. With over 250 comic book creators, writers, artists, as well as over 50 actors from your favorite geek centric shows and movies, this year’s show will have no shortage of star power.
Actors like Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy, Pacific Rim), David Tennant (Doctor Who, Jessica Jones), Doug Jones (Hellboy, The Shape of Water), George Takei (Star Trek), Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk) and even Meat Loaf will be on hand at this year’s festivities. Along with the loaded guest list, there’s a ton of new and exciting additions to this year’s comic con. The event will literally be bigger as the convention will utilize the newly expanded Suburban Showplace to fit in even more exciting events for fans to enjoy. This includes Sporcle trivia, cosplay contests, an escape room, speed dating, and much more!

A key part of any comic convention is of course the comics, and this year’s Motor City Comic Con will surely not disappoint even the biggest comic book fans. The event will have over a million comics for sale, including some exclusives that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.
You can even meet many of the artists and writers responsible for some of your favorite comic books at this year’s Artist Alley. Where you can score some exclusive art from your favorite artists, or discover something new with over 250 artists on-hand from all over the world displaying their beautiful art and published works.
Other collectibles will be on-hand too, including toys, movies, pop culture crafts, gaming merchandise, and loads of Anime. Motor City Comic Con will feature an Anime Room hosted by the Anime Club of Michigan where you can experience new and classic Anime with Metro Detroit’s biggest fans.
