Heat Up Your Summer with These Free Summer Concerts

Long gone are the days of snow flurries in May as Metro Detroit is currently experiencing plenty of sunshine and warm weather so far in July. Even though this summer looks different than years past, there are still ways to enjoy outdoor concerts in a socially distant and safe environment. So grab the sunscreen, pack a water bottle and get ready for these free summer concerts across Metro Detroit!

Mainstreet Soul (7/10)

Riverside Park in Auburn Hills will welcome Mainstreet Soul on Friday, July 10. The Knight Amphitheater at the park will host the 10-piece horn band that brings audiences the very best of rock, pop, and soul. You can see all of the safety protocols that will be in place for the event on the Auburn Hills Parks and Recreation Facebook page.

The Village Summer Sounds (7/11)

This Saturday, July 11, The Village of Rochester Hills will kick off its Village Summer Sounds Series with a performance by Kevin Wills. Wills is known for his covers of Frank Sinatra and will start performing in the gazebo at 6 p.m. The weekly concert series will run through September 26 and you can find the full lineup on the event’s Facebook page.

Concerts in Boston Edison (7/18)

Jazz pianist Brendon Davis will perform at The Congregation in Detroit as part of the Concerts in Boston-Edison series on Saturday, July 18. The renowned pianist has performed all over the country including at Chene Park, The Kennedy Center, and The Kimmel Center. All patrons are asked to wear a mask, except while eating or drinking, and practice safe social distancing.

50 Amp Fuse (7/21)

The Wildwood Pavilion will play host to free weekly summer concerts beginning with 50 Amp Fuse on Tuesday, July 21. The tribute band honors the greatest rock hits of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today ranging from “Bohemian Rhapsody” to “We Are Young.” You’re welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets, and the Orion Township Parks and Recreation asks everyone to respectfully practice social distance at these events.

Dave Bennet (7/28)

Another Orion Township Parks and Recreation free concert will feature Dave Bennett on Tuesday, July 28. The Waterford based jazz pianist and clarinetist tours with his Benny Goodman tribute band and is known for his Elvis Presley impersonation.
