The first ever Hamtramck Music Festival, presented by Ben’s Encore and AM 1610 Hamtramck, is this week! Festivities begin on Thursday and go until Saturday.
The kickoff party gets going at Small’s on Thursday. Doors open at 8 p.m., with live music starting at 9:30 p.m., when Pupils takes the stage. Kickstand Band will be the next act, followed by Atoms & Ease and finally, Cosmic Light Shapes closing down the show.
You will need to buy a wristband for $10, which you can purchase online (I have conveniently linked the website above for you) and pick up at will call, or you can buy a wristband from any of these locations.
The festival takes place at 16 Hamtramck venues and features more than 100 performers throughout the three-day-long event.
Some other local Metro Detroit acts include: Melvin Davis, The Vonneguts, Bars of Gold, The Oscillating Fan Club, Six and the Sevens and much more! I’m telling you now; if you don’t already have plans for the weekend, take a trip to Hamtramck. You’re not going to want to miss this.
The music usually begins around 9 p.m. and goes all night long in each venue, but check the website for the exact schedule so you won’t miss your favorite acts gracing the stage.

This festival is a “celebration of the music, community and culture” of not only Hamtramck, but also the whole Metro Detroit area. There isn’t a much better way to celebrate such things than highlighting local musicians and giving them the opportunity to shine at one of our own venues.
