We all have our favorite spots to watch a ball game. Sometimes the term “dive bar” has a negative connotation, while in reality, many Metro Detroit dives are community-oriented, fun and friendly. Perhaps giving one of those less glamorous bars a try is worth it. Listed below are a few dive sports bars to consider.

The Detroiter Bar in Bricktown offers a free shuttle service to and from games at Comerica Park, Ford Field and Joe Louis Arena. If that does not qualify it to be on this list, I’m not sure what does. With Detroit sports often on the televisions, Greek favorite food options and pitchers of beers, what is not to love? There is also live trivia tonight, and every Tuesday night.

Boat Works Bar & Grill is located in St. Clair Shores. The sports bar is a family-owned and operated establishment, and has been for more than 30 years. It has a great selection of craft beers, and the menu features burgers, pizza, hoagies, nachos and much more. Basically, it is a perfect option for St. Clair Shores residents to watch their favorite teams, drink a brew and eat some bar food.

3rd Street Bar of Detroit is a dive bar that has more of a rustic pub feel to it, compared to a “sports bar,” but it does broadcast Sunday Night and Monday Night Football on large projection screens and its single TV, so it makes the list in my book. The establishment offers a full bar, darts, shuffleboard, skee-ball and more. Also check out Dangerously Delicious Pies while there.

From transporting food and goods to having enough room for pets and family, owning the right SUV is essential for pet owners. See the available features that make the Chevy Tahoe a pet lover's dream.

3 Nicks Sports Bar in Dearborn has several 42-inch televisions, making it a perfect choice for watching games. It also has a great menu and daily specials. In addition, there are a ton of beer options offered and events throughout the week, including live disc jockeys on Thursday nights.  The sports bar also has a taproom location in Southgate and a “Scoreboard” location in Allen Park.

Maybe after reading this article – or after actually checking one of these places out – the phrase “dive bar” has a different meaning to you now. Dives may not be for everyone, but you never know what hidden gems you’ll find out there!
