As the great month of June is upon us (can this year possibly be going by any faster?), bar patrons are ready for some patio dining. There are not too many things better than taking in fresh air, enjoying an ice cold brew and eating delicious meals with family or friends in a scenic Metro Detroit city. There is something that could make it better, though. That something is the ability to watch one of our beloved Detroit sports teams (most likely the Tigers at this time of year) on television whilst dining on a patio.

Luckily for us sports fanatics, there are local sports bars offering the combination of outdoor dining and TVs—a pure genius mix. The following restaurants and bars are just a few southeast Michigan establishments where you can watch the game and eat/drink on a patio.

Madison’s Pub, 15 N. Walnut, Mt. Clemens, was voted “Best Bar Patio” by Real Detroit in 2012. The patio is huge, has TVs to watch the game, a fire pit with built-in seating and a bar on the patio’s upper deck. The pub includes four bars throughout the entire establishment, and specializes in parties—bachelor and bachelorette parties are common here. The newer bar sits in a 100-year old building in the heart of Downtown Mount Clemens.

Rosie O’Grady’s, has locations in Ferndale, Chesterfield, Sterling Heights, and Southgate. The Ferndale location has a great patio, with TVs available outside! The menu is loaded with wings, burgers, salads, sandwiches, pizza and much more. Of course, the beer is always flowing as well. Happy hour is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day of the week. There are different daily specials, such as half off pizza and $1.50 drafts on Mondays. Any Rosie’s location is sure to be a good selection.

Pack up for a day of fishing and fun with the Chevy Traverse. You'll be hooked on the spacious cargo area and advanced tech.

Doc’s Sports Retreat, 19265 Victor Pkwy., Livonia, has an all-season patio, complete with retractable windows, a bar, TVs, arcade games and more. The establishment itself boasts more than 70 TVs total and has 30 beers on tap at any given time. Happy hour specials are from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and offer half off appetizers, domestic drafts and well drinks, as well as $1 off of wine. There are also specials and events (such as trivia) later at night during the week and on weekends.

24 Seconds, 3071 W. 12 Mile, Berkley, provides a nice rooftop setting equipped with TVs and a bar. The bar has 24 TVs and 24 beers on tap. Happy Hour takes place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. every day and offers $1 off of all well drinks, draft beers and appetizers. There are specials every day of the week, including $2 domestic drafts and well drinks on Mondays, half off all well drinks on Fridays and happy hour prices all day on Sunday! The menu is loaded, and 24 Seconds also offers shuttles to Tigers games from time to time.

Red Fox English Pub, 100 S. Main St., Royal Oak, has a nice rooftop patio with TVs for your viewing pleasure. It is located right above Cantina Diablo’s, with the patio giving you an overhead view of the lively downtown Royal Oak. The menu offers several English favorites, such as fish and chips, bangers and mushy peas. The beer selection is plentiful as well. Baseball, soccer, hockey and other games are always on the many TVs. A nice touch to the place is the ode to the many Michigan breweries, with signs above the entranceway to the rooftop patio.

With summer on our heels, and warmer weather hopefully upon us, it is officially patio season! With the aforementioned establishments, as well as others, you no longer have to worry about missing a pitch, shot or play by your favorite sports team thanks to outdoor viewing. As always, drink responsibly and enjoy the nice weather coming our way!
