IN THE D: Wallyball Leagues & Open Courts

There is the game of volleyball that everybody knows and loves, and then there is a variation of said game known as wallyball. In this variation, the game is faster-paced and smashing the ball off of the walls is completely legal. If you are yet to test your athletic ability in an intense game of wallyball, or you’re a wallyball veteran looking for places to play, read on carefully. Listed below are establishments offering leagues and open courts.

The Coliseum Racquet Club in Taylor has 10 courts available for wallyball! The Coliseum has open court times, but it also offers leagues and pick-up games. In addition, courts can be reserved for private parties and other events. League play and scheduled play generally takes place on Tuesdays. There is also a Westland location.

Zodiac Racquet Club is located downriver in Southgate. It has an impressive 16 courts! The health club has both leagues and open courts for some wallyball action. There is no membership required here and it is open seven days a week. Don’t forget to check out Foggia’s Pizzeria and Sports bar afterward.

Courtland Racquetball Club in Shelby Township is another option. It provides 11 wallyball courts, but play is on a walk-in basis only. There are no leagues, but bring your family members or friends to have a good time. Rates are as follows: $30 per hour for up to six people, and then an additional $5 for every person more than six.

Body Rocks Fitness & Racquet in Livonia offers wallyball courts as well. The rates are $8 per person for one hour, $10 per person for an hour-and-a-half and $12 per person for two hours. In addition to being a racquet club, Body Rocks also has many fitness classes, including core classes and personal training.
