The Michigan Warriors face the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association on February 18th!
Our military veterans serve heroically throughout the world, facing unimaginable challenges to protect our freedom. However, for too many, the greatest challenges present themselves upon return.
The physical and emotional impacts of military service extend far beyond the line of duty. Many veterans need support to adjust back to civilian life and move forward with a newfound purpose.
That’s where the Michigan Warriors come in.
On February 18, The Michigan Warriors face off against the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association (DRWAA) at the Southfield Sports Arena Ice Rink. Alumni of the Detroit Red Wings could include Stanley Cup legends such as Darren McCarty and Joey Kocur.

All proceeds of the event will go directly to the Michigan Warriors to support their program. “Veterans come back from serving and sometimes there’s not that job waiting,” explained MDCD President, John Fox. “Sometimes there’s not a family waiting. Why not spend some extra time and effort giving back to the people who have given us an opportunity to live with the freedoms that we have?”
The support is appreciated. “This is such a fun and important game to the team,” said Chris Muldoon of the Michigan Warriors. “Without it and the sponsorship dollars from MDCD, I don’t know where this program would be.”
The DRWAA is equally excited to join in on the effort. George Bowman of the DRWAA says the team is looking forward to playing the Michigan Warriors. “We are grateful to the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers for making the game possible in the first place. We can’t wait to play a great game of hockey to honor our local heroes.”
Tickets are $10 and kids 10 and under get free admission. Doors open at 5 pm and puck drops at 6 pm. Additional activities at the event will include: autograph session, 50/50 raffle, chuck-a-puck, memorabilia sale and food truck.
