Sunday Funday: Where to Watch the Big Game

The National Football League will crown either the Denver Broncos or Seattle Seahawks as its champion this weekend in New York and you’re going to need a place to watch it.

As usual for big events, Metro Detroit is full of places to go. The specials will be flowing and the atmosphere will be rowdy for arguably the biggest sporting event of the year.

On the Dunes, 2055 Haggerty Rd., in Commerce is a place I’ve mentioned in the past as one of my favorite spots. On the Dunes will be hosting its party for the big game on Sunday with a buffet. In addition, an authentic NFL jersey, as well as Red Wings tickets will be given away. If all that wasn’t enough, pick your allegiance with either the Denver Broncos or Seattle Seahawks and get a $3 you-call-it every time your team scores. Watch the game as you golf on one of On the Dunes’ eight state-of-the-art indoor golf simulators. If you are still yet to check this place out, do it. You will not regret your decision.

Ironwood Bar and Grill located at 840 Ann Arbor Tr., in Downtown Plymouth is another one of my usual spots. Luckily for me,  Ironwood is hosting a party for the big game. Along with door prizes and giveaways, they will have buckets (five in each bucket) of domestic beers for $11 and domestic pints for $2.25. At halftime enjoy a complimentary appetizer buffet and during the game wing platters will be available for purchase. Don’t forget about the $4 house wines! There is no cover, so if you’re in the area check out Ironwood!

Adventure starts with a vehicle that’s up for anything. Trailblazer combines comfort you want, the versatility you need, and the technology to make every moment count.

Doc’s Sports Retreat, 19265 Victor Pkwy., in Livonia is another great place to watch a game. On Sunday, Doc’s will feature an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring all of your game-watching favorites; including tacos, sliders, pizza and more for $25. The buffet starts one hour before the game and will be available until the end of the second quarter. At halftime, Doc’s will be doing $2 off large pizzas or 12 ounce ribeye dinners, as well as $2 domestic drafts and $5 domestic buckets (five beers in a bucket). Doc’s is definitely a great atmosphere for a football game.

Fifth Avenue located at 215 Fifth St., in Royal Oak is definitely worth venturing out to this Sunday…if you’re into potentially winning a 55 inch HDTV and other prizes. They will also have a complimentary buffet and the normal “Sunday Funday” drink specials, which include a $3 build your own Bloody Mary bar, $3 shots of select whiskey, $3 mimosas and $5 margaritas. A live DJ will be spinning  before and after the game as well. Watch the game from anywhere in the bar as Fifth Avenue boasts more than 50 HDTVs.

Crow’s Nest, 6166 N. Canton Center in Canton is not the most rowdy of bars in the area, but if you’re looking to have some low-key fun, this is the place for you. Crow’s Nest will be throwing its “Super Party” for the big game. Large pizzas will be half off. I definitely recommend the pizza here if you are yet to try it. In addition, 10 ounce filet steaks will be $9.99. Couple that with the many beer specials that will be flowing and you may just be in for a nice little Sunday night. Football, food and drinks, what more could you ask for?

As a huge football fan, I am looking forward to this very intriguing matchup between the two best teams in the league. Oh, and even if you’re not big on the greatest sport in the world, I mean football; you can at least get a good laugh at those goofy commercials.  As always, drink responsibly!
