Last year’s July 4th felt incomplete without parades, barbecues and most importantly, fireworks. This year, we’re back at it again with grand displays of color to illuminate the summer sky. If you’re looking to get in on the excitement, here is where you will find spectacular fireworks shows in Metro Detroit.
June 25, First State Bank Firework Extravaganza, St. Clair Shores
St. Clair Shores gets the party started well before the 4th of July holiday. Check out Veterans’ Memorial Park for an early celebration of America’s independence. Tickets are only $3 and admission opens at 2 p.m. so you can scout out your prime seating arrangement early.
July 1 – Willow Metropark, New Boston
The Huron-Clinton Metroparks Fireworks Festival is a longstanding tradition here in southeastern Michigan. This Metro Detroit fireworks show will begin at dusk and requires no cost beyond a daily or annual Metroparks pass.
July 3 – White Lake
Just prior to Independence Day, the White Lake Citizens League will host its annual fireworks celebration. This free event will take place right over the lake, so bring some lawn chairs and enjoy an evening by the water as the sky booms overhead.
July 4 – Clawson
Independence Day has been a Clawson tradition every year since 1933, with the exception of one year during wartime and the 2020 pandemic. The legendary, July 4th fireworks display is preceded by a full week of activities including live outdoor music, fun runs and an arts and crafts fair. If you’re looking to take part in a tradition as American as apple pie, make your way to Clawson this July 4th.
July 4 – Huntington Woods
Like Clawson, Huntington Woods has a longstanding Independence Day tradition. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the festivities beginning with a parade for the whole family (10 a.m. at the corner of York and Salem). At 7 p.m., catch some live music at Scotia Park before making your way to Ludlow for prime viewing of the fireworks over Rackham Golf Course.
