ALPINE CHOCOLAT HAUS

Open since 1985, Alpine Chocolat Haus is a dream for lovers of all things chocolate. You can find chocolate-covered potato chips, candies, pretzels, fruit, and of course, fudge. There are classic choices like chocolate, peanut butter, and maple pecan. On the specialty side, there is German Chocolate topped with coconut, Bear Claw, Turtle, and even Reese’s Peanut Butter fudge options. Making this dessert an experience, Alpine Chocolat Haus has a slice of heaven for everyone.

LORI’S LICK ‘EM UP ICE CREAM

Lori’s shop offers over 400 options of ice cream treat combinations, with almost 50 flavors of soft-serve ice cream. Some of the hand-made novelties include fudge nut bars, chocolate-covered bananas, and Lori’s ice cream bars. For ice cream, there are chocolate-dipped waffle cones to go along excellently with the brownies, Michigan pothole, and Mackinaw Island fudge ice creams available. Other yummy options are the parfaits and sundaes, which can be served in a fudge waffle bowl. This is a great place to try many different dessert combinations.  

THE YOGURT STATION

The Yogurt Station is the perfect place for a warm day, with a full menu of frozen yogurt, ice cream, and dairy-free options. Choose to top one of the 40 ice cream flavors with hot chocolate sauce or a fudge brownie for the ultimate chocolate experience. The Fudge Brownie Explosion has both chocolate items with crushed nuts and is blended with vanilla ice cream or custard. Other treats with hot fudge include the Turtle Overload sundae, and the Cookie and Brownie Supremes, with each respectively topped with soft serve/custard, whipped cream, and crushed nuts.

Made in the Mitten celebrates Michigan as an artisan market, showcasing over 200 small Michigan businesses. One of those Michigan businesses is Devon’s Mackinac Island Fudge Co., a confection shop that is located in the Upper Peninsula. With flavors ranging from chocolate cherry to cookies and cream and double-dark caramel sea salt, you can get your taste of Mackinac Island right in Royal Oak. While you grab some fudge, check out the other local artists on display at Made in the Mitten. 

SANDERS CHOCOLATE & ICE CREAM SHOP

Sanders has been a staple in Michigan’s dessert scene since its inception in 1875. Known for its wide range of confectioneries, many have stood the test of time. At the ice cream shop locations, many treats and desserts feature the Sanders hot fudge topping. The hot fudge cream puff is a classic choice, with vanilla ice cream in a cream puff shell covered in hot chocolate sauce, but other options include the Pecan Titan, with ice cream covered with chocolate sauce, caramel topping, and pecans, and Bumpity Bliss, with a slive of bumpy cake topped with ice cream and hot fudge. You can also pick up the classic chocolate fudge bumpy cake in various sizes, from a mini serving 1 to 2 to a party size that serves up to 14.
